The Trigger's Operation
The Glock trigger is functional. The trigger safety is deactivated when the user pushes the trigger. The firing pin safety is then lifted by the trigger bar. The striker is cocked when the trigger reaches the disconnector. As it approaches the disconnector, the trigger bar dips slightly. The disconnector releases the striker as it descends. The striker then rushes forward, activating the Glock.
This procedure has an effect on how the trigger feels, how heavy it is, how gritty it is, and so on. Each component has a purpose, but the disconnector has the most influence on trigger pull due to the strain it produces.
